What counts as a test? A separate plug-in item, detachable lead, extension lead, charger, or appliance will usually count as one test. Power boards and portable outlet devices are a bit different: each outlet may need to be checked, so pricing can vary depending on the board type, number of outlets, and whether it includes surge protection or RCD protection. If you are unsure, send a quick photo or item list and we can estimate it before the visit.

Useful Before You Book

A few practical notes that help keep the visit quick and the quote accurate.

High-risk workplaces

Construction, workshops, wet areas, outdoor work, and equipment exposed to heat, dust, flexing, or impact usually require closer attention and more frequent checks.

Office environments

Offices may be lower risk, but power boards, leads, chargers, shared appliances, and equipment moved between desks should still be managed and recorded.

New or repaired items

New equipment should be visually checked before use. Repaired, serviced, second-hand, or returned hire equipment may need testing before going back into service.

Pricing FAQ

Do you charge a call-out fee?

The listed pricing is designed to be transparent for local jobs. For locations further from Hobart or unusual access requirements, we will confirm any travel cost before booking.

How are power boards counted?

Power boards, EPODs, and outlet devices often need each outlet checked rather than being treated exactly like a single appliance. For that reason, they may be quoted differently from a basic corded item.

What if an item fails?

Failed items are clearly identified and should be taken out of service. The report will show the result so you can repair, replace, or remove the equipment.

How often should items be tested?

Intervals depend on the workplace, equipment type, and how harsh the operating environment is. Higher-risk environments generally need more frequent testing than a quiet office.

Is testing mandatory for every business?

Every business must keep electrical equipment safe. Formal testing requirements vary by workplace risk, equipment use, and site rules, so we help you choose a practical schedule and keep clear records.
